American Village
We had outstanding trips this year and I know it was a result of much planning. Everyone in your office is delightful to work with! Thanks again.
U.S. Space and Rocket Center - Most appropriate for 4th through 8th grade students, a visit to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center will include an IMAX movie, time to enjoy the Space Center Museum and Rocket Park and various rides, simulators and exhibits. Lunch will be served at the Space Center and a buffet style dinner will be served at an “all you can eat” pizza and pasta restaurant.
Hidden deep in the rolling hills of the Central Alabama countryside is the American Village. Conceived by a former teacher, the American Village offers superior interpretive programs focusing on the events leading up to the American Revolution and the “birth” of the United States of America. Advance curriculum materials and an interactive presentation style evoke a high level of student participation and comprehension.
The commercial and industrial center of Alabama found itself the focus of the civil rights movement in the early 1960’s. Although the resultant strife temporarily marred the reputation of this venerable city, civic leaders rose to the challenge and transformed Birmingham into a balanced and vibrant community. For students studying black history and Civil Rights, Birmingham provides an outstanding backdrop. A guided visit to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, including the 16th Street Baptist Church and Kelly Ingram Park, will provide students with an understanding of the nature of the Civil Rights movement and people who brought it about. While in Birmingham, we recommend visits to the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, Sports Hall of Fame or the Southern Museum of Flight.
